Frequently asked questions

Why do cryogenic valves need extended bonnets?

The extended bonnet moves the stem seal and packing away from the cold fluid, so they sit in a warmer gas column rather than at cryogenic temperature. Without it, the packing goes hard and brittle, the seal fails and the valve leaks. It is the defining feature of a genuine cryogenic valve as opposed to a standard valve used cold.

Is AMG a distributor or a manufacturer?

For valves we are the Australasian channel for global specialists — Herose, Habonim and Furui — and we provide the application engineering, actuation packages and support around them.

What does fire-safe certification mean?

A fire-safe valve is tested to keep sealing within defined leakage limits during and after exposure to fire. On LNG and LPG service it prevents a valve becoming the path that feeds an escalating incident. It is available as a certified option across the range.

Can valves be supplied automated?

Yes. We supply actuation and automation packages sized to the valve and the control philosophy, rather than leaving integration to site.

Do you provide material traceability?

Yes, full material traceability is provided — normally a requirement for pressure equipment registration and for Tier-1 client QA regimes.
