
Wesfarmers' EVOL business supplies LNG to remote mining and power customers across Western Australia. The delivery model depends on ISO tank containers: standard-framed cryogenic tanks that can be lifted, stacked and hauled with ordinary container equipment, then left on site as buffer storage while they empty.
The weakness was survivability. Cryogenic containers from earlier suppliers were suffering internal baffle and valve failures in transit. A partly filled tank is a brutal dynamic environment — hundreds of kilometres of corrugated road puts severe cyclic loads on the internal structure as the liquid surges, and equipment that passes a factory test can still fail progressively on the haul from the Kwinana LNG plant to Mid-West and Eastern Goldfields sites. Every failure meant a tank out of service and a delivery at risk.
AMG made transit survivability the central design requirement of the programme, and worked with its manufacturing partners on build quality engineered for the actual route, not a laboratory duty cycle.
The tanks are T75 units — the IMO tank-container designation for refrigerated liquefied gases — in standard ISO frames, with robust internal baffling designed to withstand sustained liquid surge, and valve arrangements selected and mounted for vibration resistance. Integrated unloading equipment makes each container a self-contained delivery package: no specialist vehicles or site infrastructure are needed beyond what handles a normal shipping container.
Units comply with ASME and AS 1210 pressure-vessel codes together with the CSC, IMDG and ADG Code requirements that govern multi-modal container transport across road, rail and sea.

The AMG fleet ended the pattern of transit failures and became a mainstay of the EVOL delivery model — more than 30 T75 containers moving LNG from Kwinana to remote operations, functioning as transport and site storage in one unit.
For EVOL, the containers turned LNG logistics into a standard container movement: any crane, side-loader or skel trailer that handles ordinary boxes handles the gas supply chain too. That flexibility — plus the option to lease rather than buy — is why the ISO container model keeps winning remote LNG-to-power work.
